I am a modernist at heart. I really love simplicity. It can be quite beautiful and sculptural. I hate fru-fru-shi-shi-overthetop-frivilous stuff. Really one of my greatest design influences is Mies Van der Rohe (1886-1969, not that you care). He is a Bauhaus pioneer and probably one of the most recognizable modernist/internationalists. So here is why I like him...

These are probably my two favourite chairs by Mies. Yes, they are cliches, but they are still as stunning today as they were in the 20s and 30s. Enjoy real design

Timeless and simple. I guess what Grace Adler says about designing for gays is true..."Black leather, chrome, shower for six...done." But in all seriousness, these pieces draw in the eye and let it linger. They aren't just chairs, but pieces of art, and really pieces of complex engineering. Kisses and love

Yeah, I'm definitely in love...Makes me proud to be an engineering major.

What I hate to think is how much one would pay for these.

Well, they aren't cheap. The Barcelona Chair sells for $3348 from Design Within Reach, and the Brno Chair(Flat) sells for $1531 from DWR. But these are design classics and licenses are expensive as well as steel, chrome, and top quality leather.

Symphonies in chrome and black leather. I can definately see what you love here. I love the clean lines and the graceful curves. They're functional pieces that can be used to make a space into a work of art. Much love... Matt
